A birthday gift and an Etsy fave.

We had a house full of boys this weekend. It was a lot of fun. I'm ready for bed now, at 5:20 p.m., but it was fun.

Mark took all three of them downtown on the train yesterday. The plan was to go to the Sears Tower, but it was a fairly clear day, so the line was endless. Once the boys got restless, Mark changed his plans and took them to Navy Pier. They all had a great time. My nephews, who live in a more rural area, thought the taxi ride was the best part of the entire day.

While they were in Chicago, I met my friend Christina for lunch at Benihana to celebrate her birthday. Afterwards we went shopping at the mall, which was crazy busy.

Here are the citrine/peridot/sterling earrings I made for her.

I also found this necklace for her on Etsy at Deciduous Soul.

I also gave my friend Andrea a necklace from that Etsy shop for her birthdy last September.

And I gave myself one, too.

A few current favorites from Deciduous Soul...

The rest of the weekend was filled with watching movies, playing, and making projects. I was a little sad to return my nephews to my brother this afternoon.

But, the quiet that's come over the house is quite nice. I'm going to make dinner and work on a small project. Hopefully I can stay awake long enough to finish it.

I know exactly how you feel..it's so much fun to have them..you miss them when they are gone..but it's such a nice relief to be able to get back to your regular routine. My 4 year old nephew Koa is so busy..it takes a lot of energy..but I miss him so much when I hear his voice over the phone..I want to spend time with him. I wish I had more time for him.

The jewelry is beautiful..what a good friend you are!

I love that necklace you got for your friend. So pretty. I'd love a weekend in Chicago. I might have to spring that idea on Nick one of these days. He's never been and it's my favorite city!

Sounds like a great weekend!

Thank you so much for sharing Etsy artists with everyone. I get so lost looking for stuff and I love the artists you show. Thank you! And if you don't mind me asking, where did you get those great bead caps you used on the earrings you made for your friend? Those are great. Good bead caps are hard to find:)

Hi Carlene,

I bought the bead caps at a local bead store, but they have an Etsy shop. I'm not sure these are the exact bead caps, but they are pretty close. She also has a website you can find here. Good luck!
