Crocodiles.
N. has been busy making crocodiles of all sizes.
This morning I found that they'd taken over his bed, forcing him to sleep on the floor.
N. is off school today. Mark and I took off work. We'll be going to parent-teacher conferences and then... who knows?
Maybe we'll make more crocodiles.

Jerrie's bag.
There are a lot of a beads...
...on the bottom of this bag. My mom made this bag for her friend Jerrie. The beaded fringe was part of the fabric that Jerrie gave her to make the bag. I like how my mom is creative in using every bit of what she has to make bags, like when she used the sleeve of a sweater to make the closure for my sweater bag.
I think Jerrie will be very happy with the results.

Temporary delay.
After becoming the proud owner of a thimble, I procrastinated for a bit and then decided to get going on my leather pouch again. After only a few stitches, my glover's needle broke. Drat! Because the thread was doubled up, I cannot easily switch out the needle; instead, I have to cut the thread and start over.
That happened on Sunday. It's still sitting just like this.
Am I the only one who dislikes starting a new thread?

Swiss chalet.
Remember my little custard cups? I came across some mugs on eBay with the same pattern (I've seen it listed as Swiss chalet or Swiss alpine). They're so darn cute.
I called my mom and told her about them, but wasn't going to buy them because the shipping price was a little crazy. I am so cheap when it comes to shipping. Seriously. Cheap.
But, after looking around and not find them anywhere else, I gave in. And, when I drink hot chocolate or tea out of them I'm glad I did.

The 100-year old boy.
Today is the 100th day of school. To celebrate, the children are dressing up as 100-year old people. It's hard to tell from this photo, but N. has baby powder in his hair to make it grey. I think this trick would work better if his hair was darker.
He's reading a news magazine, because "that's what old people read." He had fun hobbling around and acting old this morning. He wanted to know if I feel that old. Um, no, I don't. His next question was about whether or not his great-grandparents feel old. I like how he makes the leap from me to great-grandparents nearing 90, seemingly because we're practically the same age.
He was pretty spry this morning for a 100-year old boy.

Embellished.
I added some crystal sequins to the bead embroidered leather pouch. It was fun to do because it was very free form.
The amount of sparkle on this in hypnotizing. I might have overdone it a little with the crystal sequins. Maybe.
I need to get to JoAnn Fabrics today to buy a thimble. The next step involves stitching through more layers of leather and my thumb was bleeding after just a few passes.
How is it that I do not own one thimble?
